Steag Power Markets

Steag Power bundles the power plant business and operates seven hard coal-fired power plants in market and reserve operation at six locations in Germany with a total electrical output of around 3,500 MW. It thus makes a significant contribution to security of supply in Germany and the European UCTE grid (Union for the Co-ordination of Transmission of Electricity). Our share of total electricity generation in Germany is around five per cent.

Our value creation ranges from global fuel procurement and the necessary logistics to the power plants on the Ruhr and in Saarland. We remain committed to our strategy of phasing out hard coal-fired power generation in the future.
