Board of Management

The STEAG GmbH Board of Management is responsibly for the management of the STEAG Power GmbH. In addition, they regularly report to the Supervisory Board on any matters of relevance to the company.

Von Januar 2024 bis zu seinem Wechsel in die Geschäftsführung war er Geschäftsbereichsleiter Technik der STEAG Power GmbH. Im Dezember 2024 übernahm er zusätzlich das Amt des technischen Beirats der STEAG Power GmbH sowie der Iqony GmbH.

Von Januar 2011 bis Dezember 2013 war er Leiter Abteilung Beschaffung/Absatz -Strom und CO2 im Front Office Abteilung B&O, STEAG GmbH, Essen (seit 1. Dezember 2022 STEAG Power GmbH). Davor hatte er verschiedene Positionen im Bereich Lastverteilung inne, zuletzt bis 2010 Fachbereichsleiter Lastverteilung und kurzfristiger Stromhandel im Bereich EW / Lastverteilung bei der Evonik STEAG GmbH.

Thomas Ciecierski startete 1989 mit einer Ausbildung zum Energieelektroniker im Steag-Kraftwerk Lünen. Neben seiner anschließenden Tätigkeit als Energieelektroniker im Kraftwerk Lünen absolvierte er das Studium der elektrischen Energietechnik an der FH Dortmund.

Karl Resch

Karl Resch has been working for the STEAG Group since 2013 and has held various positions in energy trading and business development during this time. Most recently, he has been Head of Portfolio Management & Origination at STEAG Power GmbH since 2024, prior to which he was Head of Sales & Origination at STEAG GmbH since 2017 and at STEAG Power GmbH from 2023. Karl Resch has been an authorized signatory of STEAG GmbH since 2013 and has also been an authorized signatory of STEAG Power GmbH since 2023.

Before joining STEAG, he held various positions in the energy industry for around fifteen years, most recently as an authorized signatory and Head of Industrial Sales & Customer Relationship Management at RWE Supply & Trading in Essen, and previously at Enron Energie in Frankfurt/Main and OMV in Vienna.

His energy industry background as a graduate engineer in applied geosciences with stations at the Montanuniversität Leoben (Austria) and the Colorado School of Mines (USA) was complemented by an Executive MBA in General Management from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland).

Verena Sievers

Born in 1976
She also continues to manage the HR department for the entire Group, which she has headed since 2019. She continues in this role alongside her management activities at STEAG Power GmbH. Until April 2025, Verena Sievers was also Chairwoman of the Speakers' Committee for Senior Executives and in this role also took on the mandate for senior executives on the employee bank side of the Supervisory Board of KSBG GmbH and STEAG GmbH. Verena Sievers can look back on a long career in the STEAG Group. From 2017 to 2019 she was Head of Back Office at Trading & Optimization, before that she was responsible for risk management in the Group's commodity trading under various corporate law constructs and in this context helped to establish today's trading.

Verena Sievers studied economics at the Ruhr University. She began her career in the Group in 2004 at RAG Coal International AG in the International Management & Development department before moving to the then coal trading department of RAG Trading GmbH.
